The city of Kentwood is partnering with GR8 Food Trucks to host the annual Food Truck Festival from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in the parking lot of the Kent District Library – Kentwood Branch, 4950 Breton Ave. SE.
The festival is an effort to help small businesses as the summer season ends. There will be food from 24 food trucks, live music, beer and wine and a moment of silence to honor the victims of 9/11.
“We’re looking forward to the return of our Food Truck Festival, which has become one of our community’s favorite events to enjoy great food and music as we near the end of summer,” said Val Romeo, Kentwood Parks and Recreation director. “We’ve developed a great lineup of food trucks with GR8 Food Trucks, as well as several musicians for a full day of fun outdoors.”
There will be live music performances from Bucket O’ Maybes, DJ Snax, Moonshot Band and Last Gasp Collective beginning at 11 a.m. A beer tent will have local craft beer and wines throughout the event.
Kentwood Mayor Stephen Kepley will lead a moment of silence at 5 p.m. in remembrance of the 9/11 victims, which will be followed by the performance of local bagpiper Tom Bradley. Posters from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York will be on display in the Library Community Room.
