Restaurant Week Grand Rapids raises $5K for culinary students

The 12th annual Restaurant Week Grand Rapids event supported 50 restaurants and raised $5,000 for the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Arts.

Restaurant Week Grand Rapids ran Friday, Nov. 5, through Saturday, Nov. 13, at 50-plus participating local restaurants.

The event, hosted by Experience Grand Rapids, featured a digital pass program that helped participants plan their visits and receive prizes for check-ins.

Experience GR reported on Monday, Nov. 22, the event garnered 2,156 restaurant check-ins, 2,733 digital pass signups, and 25% of the participants were from outside Kent County.

For every Restaurant Week GR check-in through the digital pass, Experience GR donated $1 to an endowed scholarship fund for the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, and the effort raised $5,000 overall.

Since its inception, Restaurant Week GR has donated more than $150,000 to further the education of local culinary students.
