The Grand Rapids Public Library (GRPL) will host Comic Geek Out from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Yankee Clipper Branch Library, 2025 Leonard St. NE.

This year’s free event will be headlined by Grand Rapids native and voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey. O’Shaughnessey will sign autographs and speak with attendees during a Q&A session. She also will discuss her role as Tails in the recent “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” films.

Other offerings this year include free refreshments, a comic strip workshop where adults and children can learn the components of putting together a comic, tabletop games donated by local comic shop Vault of Midnight, local artists selling their art, and a comics 101 exhibit on the history and background of comics by Hackley Public Library and GRPL.

A professional cosplay meet and greet will give attendees the opportunity to meet and take photos with their favorite characters. Comic Geek Out also will hold an open cosplay contest from 3-4:30 p.m.

Vault of Midnight, one of this year’s Comic Geek Out partners, will sell comics, manga and graphic novels at the event.
