The Barre Code Grand Rapids will be hosting an outdoor, socially distanced fitness class from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 10 on the Blue Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids.
The class, led by several of the studio’s instructors, will feature a unique format that blends three class styles and will end in a mindful meditation led by Megan Radar from Kula Yoga. DJ Adrian Butler will be live DJing the event.
The Barre Code Grand Rapids also will be accepting book donations at the event to fill up Ms. Alita’s Library. Event attendees are encouraged to purchase books from the event We Are Lit, a local Black-owned business that offers multicultural books across all genres.
The in-person event is sold out, but The Barre Code is offering a virtual livestream option. The virtual tickets are donation-based and are available for purchase until 2 p.m. Aug. 10. Attendees will receive an email shortly after 2 p.m. with information on how to access the class and the livestream will begin at 7 p.m.
The Barre Code Grand Rapids, owned by Stacie Thomas, is a boutique fitness studio that goes beyond the traditional barre classes to offer cardio, strength training and restorative class formats with an emphasis on positivity and empowerment.
“The Blue Bridge class is one of our favorite events of the year, and we are excited to safely bring everyone together for an empowering experience, whether it is in-person or virtually,” Thomas said. “Our team is proud to support Grand Rapids HQ’s mission and collaborate with numerous other local businesses to make this event a success. We are thankful to our community partners and Barre Code nation.”
Those attending the class in person should bring their own mask, yoga mat, sneakers and water. For safety purposes, event attendees are required to wear a mask when not on their personal yoga mat, which will be safely positioned 6 feet apart from others.
