Experience Grand Rapids is taking Restaurant Week to a new level to incentivize the community in supporting recovering local food businesses.

Experience GR, Grand Rapids’ destination marketing organization, announced the 11th annual Restaurant Week Grand Rapids will take place Aug. 5-16 and will feature a digital pass program to drive return visits to struggling local eateries.

The registration fee will be waived for all restaurants, and they will not be required to offer a special event menu. Instead, restaurants will provide a “return visit coupon” for the new Restaurant Week GR digital pass program to drive repeat business through the fall.

“Our local restaurants need community support now more than ever,” said Kate Lieto, director of marketing for Experience Grand Rapids. “We have revamped the event to provide a much-needed boost to our food businesses, and we are looking forward to supporting the local eateries that make Grand Rapids a top foodie destination.”

Customers will be able to access the Restaurant Week GR digital pass on their smartphones. They can use the pass to check in at participating restaurants and will receive a one-time use coupon at every restaurant they check into, redeemable within 60 days of their Restaurant Week GR visit.

Diners who check into four or more restaurants will earn a special foodie-themed gift from Experience Grand Rapids.

More details about the pass will be announced closer to the event.

Restaurants can sign up to participate in the event now through July 15 at experiencegr.com/rwsignup.
