Lindsey McDivitt, author of “Truth and Honor: The President Ford Story,” shares the process and inspiration behind her new book in a three-part online video series.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation released the mini online video series in anticipation of the book release, which is scheduled for July 14, former President Ford’s birthday.

Guided by Clare Shubert, director of engagement and programming at the Gerald R. Ford Foundation, McDivitt shares her tips for writing and researching nonfiction stories, including details about how she uncovered specifics of Ford’s life experiences for the children’s book.

Among a few different topics, McDivitt discusses the unique challenge of maintaining the integrity of the facts while sharing Ford’s story in an exciting way that children will want to read.

Insider details from McDivitt’s illustrator, Matt Faulkner, also are available via a similar online video series.

Exclusive videos with both McDivitt and Faulkner, as well as official book trailers can be found online, via the DeVos Learning Center.

“Truth and Honor: The President Ford Story” will be published as a hardcover and e-book by Sleeping Bear Press, giving young readers a glimpse of President Ford’s life story, from his childhood and college years to his military service and presidency.
