A café with an emphasis on love and inclusion opened on Bridge Street.
Eden Café opened for business Tuesday, July 5, at 1034 Bridge St. NW on Grand Rapids’ West Side.
The establishment serves gourmet coffee and specialty drinks, pastries, doughnuts and sandwiches.
The owners wrote on their website that the coffee shop’s mission is to show “agape” love, which in Greek means sacrificial love and is considered the highest form of love.
“‘Agape’ means we are bigger than ourselves and have boundless compassion and an infinite empathy that extends to everyone, whether they are family members or distant strangers,” the website said. “Relax in our warming and loving atmosphere that is comforting for all.”
The café will donate 4% of its revenue to charitable causes each month, including organizations that provide early childhood education, health care, social justice services and more. In the winter, the café plans to help purchase winter gear for people experiencing housing insecurity.
Eden Café offers online ordering and in-person service. Its hours are 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
