The City of Kentwood again will offer holiday tree and string light recycling services for residents this winter at the Public Works Department.
Residents may bring natural holiday trees to the Public Works Department, 5068 Breton Ave. SE, between Dec. 28 and Jan. 31. The drop-off service is available 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–noon Saturday. The drop-off site will be closed Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and Jan. 20 for holidays.
A drop-off box for string lights is located near the front doors of the Public Works building through Jan. 31. Both the tree and string light drop-off services are free to use for residents only and require proof of Kentwood residency.
“We appreciate the opportunity to offer seasonal services tailored to the needs of our residents,” Public Works Director Chad Griffin said. “By offering tree and light recycling each year, we help residents clean up their holiday decorations in an environmentally friendly way.”
All decorations, lights, wires and other non-natural materials must be removed from the trees in advance.
