ArtPrize, the internationally renowned art competition and cultural celebration, is set to return to Grand Rapids, Michigan, from September 13–28, 2024. This year, ArtPrize 2.0 promises to be more dynamic and immersive than ever before, with over 950 artists showcasing their work across 165 venues throughout the city. What began in 2009 as a groundbreaking experiment in public art and civic engagement has evolved into one of the world’s most significant art events, drawing visitors from near and far to experience creativity in every corner of Grand Rapids.

Expect a Party Atmosphere and Big Spectacle at Signature Events
ArtPrize 2024 will be anchored by three signature events designed to captivate and engage the community. The festivities will kick off with the opening celebration and parade on Friday, September 13, setting the tone for the excitement to come. The streets will come alive with vibrant displays, performers, and the collective energy of artists and art lovers alike.

On Friday, September 20, the event reaches its midpoint with the highly anticipated HalfTime Show at Studio Park. Starting at 7 p.m., this event will reveal the top 100 entries, keeping the competition wide open as all participating artists remain eligible to win the public vote until the very end. Following the announcement, attendees will be treated to an electrifying performance by The Pack Drumline, a group known for its dynamic and powerful shows.

The grand finale, the ArtPrize closing ceremony, will take place at 17 Pearl St. NE, where the winners will be announced and celebrated in style. This unforgettable evening will feature food trucks, a cash bar, a dazzling light and laser show, and a circus performance that promises to be larger-than-life.

Featured Events Include Artisan Chocolate, Breakdancing, and So Much MoreThroughout the 16 days of ArtPrize, visitors will find an array of events and activations that reflect the diversity and creativity of the participants. Among the highlights is the Bittersweet Symphony, a unique collaboration between artisan chocolatiers and the Grand Rapids Symphony that merges decadent flavors with rich melodies. Each Saturday, the Merchants and Makers Market will offer handmade goods, providing a platform for local artisans to showcase their talents.

Starting September 20, AllArt: Grand Rapids will transform DeVos Place into an expansive three-day art show, featuring over 700 works of art available for purchase. This dynamic, rotating exhibit will offer something new every time you visit.

Other exciting happenings include the 1 of 1 Midwest Breakin’ Battle, an intense breakdancing competition; the Curb Appeal custom car show; and the Kulture Kick soccer tournament and cultural exhibition. Additionally, ArtPrize will offer guided tours, field trips, art workshops, a fashion show, and more, ensuring that there’s always something to experience. For those seeking something truly unique, the limited-ticket events SPACE and BALANCE will offer highly exclusive, immersive experiences that push the boundaries of art and engagement.
