The owner of the 7-year-old JoJo’s House of Beauty is closing the salon’s doors on Dec. 31.

Josephine White, owner of JoJo’s House of Beauty, at 1801 44th St. SE in Grand Rapids, said in a Facebook post on Monday, Dec. 27, she will close the business on the last day of 2021.

“2021 was many things: A year of release and surrender; a year of letting go of all things comfortable, cozy and familiar; a year of uncertainty; a year in which we kept pushing through; a year of growing into better versions of ourselves; a year of sorrow, healing and processing it all in one; (and) a year of thanking Jesus we made it this far, but acknowledging we’re tired, anxious and ready for 2022,” White said in the post.

She thanked customers, service providers, clients, stylists and all those who helped support her business over the years.

“It was my dream and could not have come to life without all of you,” she said. “… I couldn’t be (prouder) of the journey we’ve taken.”

White was one of the Grand Rapids Business Journal’s 2020 40 Under 40 Business Leaders.

She posted previously in a Nov. 21 video that she now is a licensed real estate agent in Fontana, California, where she and her husband moved in January 2021.

The building that housed JoJo’s currently is for sale for $250,000 through Coldwell Banker Realty.

White will continue making and selling her line of JoJo’s Hair Essence products and cashmere Indian wigs at jojoshairessence.com. The stylists employed by JoJo’s will continue working independently. They are available for scheduling on their Instagram pages, which are linked here.
