The Lakeshore Museum Center in Muskegon is providing residents with hand-quilting supplies and a virtual workshop.

Melissa Horton, the museum interim executive director, will host the virtual workshop at 6 p.m. March 23 on Zoom. Participants will learn how to use a template, trace patterns, cut fabric, piece together blocks, quilt and bind the final project.

Participants can register for the workshop for $20, or $18 for members. Supplies will be available for pickup from now until March 23.

The workshop coincides with a temporary exhibit — which is open through April 24 — featuring local quilter Rosie Lee Wilkins, who created over 100 quilts in her lifetime.

“This event knits together our ‘Who is Rosie Lee Wilkins?’ exhibit with a fun hobby anyone can enjoy,” Horton said. “This is a great spot for beginners to try their ‘hand’ at hand quilting and speak with others interested in the same hobby.”
