Hospice of Michigan is hosting a virtual training orientation for new volunteers to help those dealing with life-limiting illnesses in West Michigan.

While most volunteer visits are done virtually due to COVID-19, Hospice of Michigan has specific needs for veterans who can visit with veteran patients and participate in veteran pinning ceremonies and for volunteers with pets who can interact with patients.

Individuals interested in volunteering can attend a virtual new volunteer orientation from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 26.

Since retirement, former assisted-living nurse Pam Mohrhardt spends her time volunteering at Hospice of Michigan.

“Ask yourself what you can offer to others,” she said. “Whether it’s reading to a patient or just talking to them, you form a relationship with those you visit. You’re giving them a better quality of life through your time together.”

Those interested in volunteering can contact Megan Cadle at (616) 356-5233 or mcadle@hom.org to register for the training.
