GR VegFest takes place this weekend at the DeltaPlex

Grand Rapids VegFest is back for its third year with speakers, cooking demonstrations and tons of delicious food.

Attendees will learn about new products, make connections with local vendors, watch plant based cooking demonstrations, attend lectures, and receive the support and resources to learn how a plant-based diet could work for them.

VegFest is being held from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept.17 at The Deltaplex in downtown Grand Rapids. Tickets are available for $8 presale or $10 at the door. Children under 10 are free. Parking is free.

VegFests are annual vegetarian food festivals held in numerous locations around the world. The goal of Grand Rapids VegFest, which is presented by local nonprofit Plant Based Roots and the Grand Rapids Veg Meetup Group, is to promote a plant based diet for health, compassion and conservation of the environment.

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or an omnivore curious about the health benefits of a plant-based diet, there’s something for everyone at VegFest, including activities and information for the entire family.

Local and national vegan-friendly businesses will be participating in the event. Attendees can find food, restaurants and wellness coaches along with cosmetics, clothing and fashion, and non-profit organizations displaying their wares and services. There will also be food available for purchase from local vegan vendors and food trucks.

Grand Rapids VegFest Keynote Speakers:

  • Joel Kahn, founder of the Kahn Center for Cardiac Longevity. He is also an author and owner of GreenSpace Cafe in Ferndale.
  • Kerrie Saunders, PhD, is an internationally known author, presenter and consultant. She teaches others how to use food choices to optimize health function and help prevent or reverse food cravings, obesity and chronic disease processes.
  • Ziggy the Traveling Piggy, who will be accompanied by his pet parents Kristin and Jay, will tell the amazing story of how Ziggy changed their lives.

Other presenters from the Animal Compassion Panel and the Plant Based Health Panel will be covering a variety of topics as well.
