Social media feeds are buzzing as beer from America’s oldest brewery, D.G. Yuengling & Son, makes its way to Western Michigan. Starting November 10, local bars and restaurants will pour the brewery’s nearly 200-year-old classics—Traditional Lager, Black & Tan, and Flight—thanks to a new partnership with Alliance Beverage Distributing.

Founded in 1829 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Yuengling has spent nearly two centuries brewing beers that have earned loyal followings across the eastern U.S., including its Traditional Lager, Black & Tan, and Flight. Until now, these classics have been largely out of reach for Michigan drinkers. That changes this fall, as taps from the southern border to the Mackinac Bridge begin pouring Yuengling’s lineup.

The expansion comes through a national distribution partnership with Molson Coors, allowing the brewery to reach new markets while maintaining its reputation for consistent quality and approachable prices—often around $10 for a 12-pack of lager. For West Michigan, it’s a nearly 200-year-old piece of brewing history stepping into a city that helped define modern craft beer.

In a Beer City, competition may be fierce, but variety is always welcome. And while Yuengling’s lagers may not replace your local favorites, they could find a comfortable spot alongside the other favorites that define the scene.
