The latest installment in Founders’ Bottle Shop Series is a Belgian tripel.

Grand Rapids-based Founders Brewing Co. said Monday, April 11, it rolled out the latest installment in its Bottle Shop Series, Belgian Twist, in its Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms last month, and it will be available in nationwide distribution this month.

Pricing in the Founders taproom is $15 per four-pack; prices will vary by market.

The triple-brewed beer (ABV 10%) was brewed with organic Blue Agave nectar and Michigan honey. Rich Belgian yeast esters of banana and fruit and a sweet body round out the hazy, golden straw colored tripel. Palisade and Michigan Heritage hops balance the sweetness.

“Nothing says craft beer in America like taking a traditional style and putting a twist on it,” said Founders Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki. “In this case, we’ve taken the Belgian tripel style and instead of using Belgian candi sugar to ferment the beer drier, we chose agave nectar. This adds another layer of depth and complexity and plays harmoniously with our Belgian yeast strain.”

The Bottle Shop Series is a tribute to the people “who supported ragtag brewers across the country when craft beer was in its infancy, when beer enthusiasts sought out innovation through big flavor, in-your-face complexity and revered quality above all else,” Founders said.
