A Detroit-based restaurant known for its “craft beers, great food, amazing service and a killer playlist” opened its first West Michigan location.
Owner Matt Buskard opened Bobcat Bonnie’s Grand Rapids at 1968 Breton Road SE in the former Houlihan’s on Nov. 2.
The restaurant — founded in Detroit in 2017 and now with locations in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood, Wyandotte, Ferndale, Ypsilanti and Clinton Township’s Partridge Creek Mall — serves new American, seasonally changing cuisine such as appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, bowls and large plates, along with dessert, cocktails and wine.
Buskard said he was excited to open a location in West Michigan.
“I’m originally from the Allendale area, and I’ve always known Grand Rapids,” he said. “It was exciting to get back here, and the space was open … there wasn’t a lot out in the Breton Village area, and so it was exciting to get out there. We wanted to be in an area where we could be part of the community and affect change. … We also thought we would be complementary with our neighboring businesses. People seem to really have taken to us so far in our first two full weeks of operation.”
Currently, Bobcat Bonnie’s Grand Rapids’ hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 4-11 p.m. Saturday and 12-8 p.m. Sunday.
Buskard said the restaurant is gearing up to add hours on Mondays, and before the holidays, it will start offering weekend brunch. People can keep an eye on Bobcat Bonnie’s Grand Rapids’ Facebook page for the new hours in the coming weeks.
The restaurant also offers outdoor heated domes, which are $10 by reservation.
