A local bike shop and café will host an event with food, music and beer this month.
Switchback said Tuesday, April 12, it will host the Beers & Cheers Spring Social from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Sunday, April 22-24, at its bike shop and café at 2166 Plainfield Ave. NE in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood.
The social will feature live music, local food vendors, giveaways, games, special beer releases and more.
Switchback opened in the Creston neighborhood in May 2015 and added a coffee shop in January 2021, with beer arriving in 2022. The cafe serves ethically sourced coffee, food and pastries from local chefs, tea, kombucha, and kava in a cozy, nature-oriented environment, including an outdoor patio.
There are six rotating beers on tap at the café and over 30 canned varieties, including gluten-reduced, nonalcoholic, ciders, wines and seltzers. The spring social will serve as the launch for Switchback’s craft cocktail menu, and new cocktails will be featured monthly moving forward.
Switchback is a woman-owned, LGBTQ+ safe space that is disability- and kid-friendly, with dogs welcome on the patio, the business said.
Coffee and beer are served from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week.
The Beers & Cheers Spring Social will take place rain or shine.
