Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is renovating and rededicating its Volunteer Tribute Garden and sculpture, “The Tribute,” by Italian artist Oliviero Rainaldi.

The rededication ceremony for “The Tribute” and the Volunteer Tribute Garden will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Meijer Gardens at 1000 E. Beltline Ave. NE in Grand Rapids.

The Volunteer Tribute Garden was expanded and redesigned by Progressive AE and the Meijer Gardens horticulture team as part of its Welcoming the World: Honoring A Legacy of Love expansion project. The expansion includes a new boardwalk area and outdoor classroom that extends on top of a wetland.

“The Tribute” first was installed at Meijer Gardens in 2006. The renovated sculpture is not yet available for the public to view, as two newly designed aluminum panels are being inserted into the sculpture’s interior.

A Conversation with Oliviero Rainaldi will be held prior to the rededication ceremony at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the Huizenga Grand Room at Meijer Gardens. Registration is required.
