The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo (ACGK) will host October Art Hop from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 1 at Haymarket Plaza in downtown Kalamazoo.

There will be 20 shops, eight artists and live music featuring Carrie McFerrin. There also will be a digital art show displayed on a 40-by-78-foot section of the Haymarket Building at 7:30 p.m.

Art Hop also will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the lead up to Dia de los Muertos. Hispanic Heritage Month — Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 — recognizes  the influence Hispanic Americans have had on the history, culture and achievements of the U.S.

ACGK also partnered with WKZO 590 AM and 106.9 FM to launch the Creative Café, a segment airing at 8 a.m. every Saturday on WKZO. The segment will feature guest speakers and the latest news and happenings in the arts community. Replays of the Creative Café can be downloaded as a podcast on Buzzsprout, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play or Amazon Music.
