A locally owned cannabis company will host its first “Felons Feeding Families” event ahead of Thanksgiving.

Pharmhouse Wellness owner Casey Kornoelje and Redemption Cannabis owner Ryan Basore are teaming up to give back to the community by providing 100 free turkeys to anyone in need. Turkeys can be picked up at Pharmhouse Wellness, at 831 Wealthy St. SW in Grand Rapids, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Turkeys will be given to anyone 18 years of age and older while supplies last.

Both owners are former felons who were charged with marijuana crimes before cannabis became legal in Michigan. The now-successful business owners are giving back by inviting those in need to stop by Pharmhouse Wellness for a free Thanksgiving turkey.

“It’s been a rough year for people everywhere with the pandemic, and we wanted to do something that might make the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday a bit easier for anyone in need,” Kornoelje said. “It’s important for people to know that a cannabis business is not that different than any other business when it comes to supporting the people in our community. Providing this traditional part of a Thanksgiving meal is our honor.”

Those shopping at the store on Nov. 24 also will receive a free pre-roll from Redemption Cannabis.
