Dominican Sisters Grand Rapids are holding a liquidation sale at the former Motherhouse.

The sale will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at 2025 E. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids.

Third Coast Development and PK Development Group, together known as 3CPK, bought the Motherhouse in 2020, according to a previous Business Journal report. The local developers plan to transform the complex into an affordable senior housing community.

This weekend’s sale, hosted by Heirloom Estate Services, will allow the Dominican Sisters to downsize after their move from the Motherhouse into new buildings on the campus. Items for sale are no longer needed by the sisters, who will be present at the sale to answer questions and help visitors find their way around.

The Motherhouse consists of three buildings with four floors each. Across the three buildings, hundreds of items are up for purchase, including dining room chairs, a 1956 Baldwin baby grand piano, office supplies, artwork and tapestries, sewing machines and exercise equipment.

Kitchen items such as refrigerators, microwaves and kitchenware; office items such as desks, filing cabinets and chairs of all types; washers and dryers; and bedroom furniture are some of the other sale items listed.

According to Heirloom Estate Services, cash, check or charge are welcome as payment. All sales will be final, and all items will be sold as-is.

Visitors are invited to park off Lakeside Drive. Overflow parking will be available at Third Reformed Church, at 2060 Michigan St. NE.
