Sparrows Coffee expanded its local retail presence by opening a new location at Kingma’s Market in the Creston/Cheshire Village neighborhood at 2225 Plainfield Ave. NE.
The coffee shop is just under 600 square feet inside and features a large outdoor patio that provides customers a welcoming indoor-outdoor seating atmosphere.
“As a local Grand Rapids-based boutique coffee shop, we are thrilled to add an additional location at Kingma’s Market to share our coffee with the community,” said Tim Volkema, CEO of Sparrows Coffee. “We couldn’t imagine a better partner than Kingma’s Market, another local business with deep community ties.”
The café has its own external entrance at the southeast corner of Plainfield Avenue and Marywood Drive, and is connected to Kingma’s Market internally. In celebration of the grand opening, Sparrows will offer a buy-one-get-one promotion on all beverage options through Sunday.
The full-service café at Kingma’s Market is headlined by five exclusive specialty drinks:
- Golden Chai – golden milk, black tea and cardamom
- Leland Palmer – black gold tea, lemonade and lavender
- Ghia Colada – soft aperitif, coconut, pineapple and lime
- Dirtier Harry – black tea, espresso, oat milk and bergamot
- Cold Foam Mocha – cold brew, cold foam and single-producer mocha sauce
The location also serves espresso-based drinks, including lattes and cortados, as well as drip coffee, cold brew and other beverages. Sparrows is partnering with local vendors including Rise Bakery, Lively Up Kombucha and Atucún Chocolate, and will sell ready-made bags of Sparrows and Joven Coffee to take out.
“On behalf of Kingma’s Market, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Sparrows Coffee to our store,” said Alan Hartline, president of Kingma’s Market. “The coffee shop is such a great addition to the neighborhood and just in time for summer weather. We’re excited to see our community take full advantage of the stunning outdoor patio.”
Sparrows will be open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. For more information, visit Sparrows’ website or follow @thesparrowsgr on Instagram.
