For beer-loving Michiganders, Oberon Day has long been a beloved tradition signaling the arrival of spring. On March 24, Oberon Day returns to Bell’s Eccentric Café in Kalamazoo, marking the launch of the 2025 Oberon season—and the debut of Oberon Light.
Maintaining the same citrusy aroma and crisp finish as the original, Oberon Light offers an alternative at just 99 calories and 4% ABV—perfect for those who want a refreshing lower alcohol and calorie option without sacrificing flavor. It will be available in 6- and 12-packs throughout the Great Lakes region all summer long.
“Due to its seasonal nature, Oberon fans across the country view Oberon Day as the unofficial start to summer, with thousands of fans flocking to our Eccentric Cafe each year to celebrate” said Carly Davis, Bell’s Senior Brand Manager. “Now, we’re expanding the Oberon family with Oberon Light which provides the same bright, fruit-forward flavors fans want in warmer months that’s light and refreshing.”
This year’s theme, Midwest State Fair, is the perfect backdrop for the day’s festivities, which include a Ferris wheel, carnival games, live music, local crafts, food vendors, and exclusive Oberon merchandise. The event will kick off at 11 a.m., when the iconic Oberon flag is raised, and it’s open to attendees 21 and older.
For over three decades, Oberon has been a flagship beer for Bell’s Brewery, growing into one of the most popular seasonal brews in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. It’s the top-selling seasonal beer in these areas, making up nearly a third of Bell’s business. This success has helped cement the brewery’s reputation as one of the biggest players in the Midwest craft beer scene.
Founded in 1985 by Larry Bell in Kalamazoo, Bell’s Brewery has grown from humble beginnings in a 15-gallon soup kettle to one of the largest and most well-respected craft breweries in the country. Known for its iconic brews like Two Hearted IPA, Oberon Ale, and Hopslam Ale, Bell’s continues to innovate with seasonal offerings like Oberon Light and other small-batch creations.

Oberon itself has become a Midwest phenomenon since its debut in 1992. Every spring, beer enthusiasts flock to Kalamazoo to enjoy the season’s first sip. This year, Oberon Day attendees will also have the chance to sample unique Oberon variants created by Bell’s master brewers, such as Oberon Strawberry Lemonade Shandy, Orange Vanilla, Mango Habanero, Salted Caramel, Michigan Martini, and Oberon Slushies. These exclusive offerings will be available only at the Eccentric Café and Bell’s General Store.
Oberon will be available nationally from March to September in a variety of packaging, including 6-packs of 12oz bottles and cans, 4-packs of 16oz cans, 19.2oz cans, and 12-packs of both bottles and cans.
