Starting this month, food trucks aren’t just for summer anymore in downtown Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Food Truck Association said this week it is helping coordinate food trucks for the annual World of Winter Festival in partnership with Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI), the festival organizer.

Food trucks — including Patty Matters, StreetChefShaw, Mapocho Fresh Sanwishes, Taste of Toya’s World, Around Baking Company, Beecher’s Handcrafted Pretzels and Blue Chip Food Truck — will be on hand at the 555 Monroe Ave. NW lot Tuesday-Sunday from Jan. 7 through March 6.

More trucks may join as the event goes on.

“Seeing this many food trucks wanting to participate in winter events is awesome,” said Lauren D’Angelo, vice president of the Grand Rapids Food Truck Association. “Food trucks don’t have to operate for a season; they can operate in Michigan year-round. This is a great opportunity for people to get out this winter, try out some newer food trucks or grab something from an old favorite. DGRI puts on a great event with the World of Winter Festival, and the food truck community is excited to be part of it.”

Food truck hours during the festival will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 5-8 p.m. Friday, 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 12-6 p.m. Sunday.
