Watch the premiere of Game of Thrones
The seventh season of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday and 20 Monroe Live is hosting a free viewing party. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the program begins at 9 p.m. In the intermediary time 20 Monroe Live has several fun activities planned including an introduction at 7:45 p.m. by the Master of Ceremonies, a Battle of the Houses live action role-play at 8 p.m., and a Cosplay Costume Contest at 8:30 p.m.
Because the floor is concrete, 20 Monroe Live encourages attendees’ to bring their own seating. Lawn chairs, blankets, pillows and pouch couches are all welcome. Food and drinks will be available in the venue.
Visit one of Grand Rapids’ recently renovated parks
On Monday, the Grand Rapids Parks Department celebrated the completion of renovations to Campau and Richmond Parks.
Campau Park, 51 Delaware SW, now boasts a new splashpad, playground and walking path as well as a new restroom facility, landscaping, drinking fountain, benches and a bike rack.
Richmond Park’s, 1101 Richmond NW, new features include an ADA fishing platform on the pond as well as ADA restroom upgrades. The park’s shelter building was also improved.
Try a Grandwich
Grand Rapids restaurants are getting creative with their sandwiches this month in an effort to win the annual Grandwich crown. Over 30 restaurants are participating and there is still time to get out and try some sandwiches and cast a vote for your favorite.
The competition kicked off on July 5 with the public asked to vote for their favorite sandwich through July 21. The top 10 finalists will be announced on the Grandwich website and social media outlets on July 24. The competition will conclude with the third annual judges tour of the top 10 restaurants on July 27.
