Parents and children can lift a glass at this year’s Oktoberfest West Michigan celebration, taking place the last Friday and Saturday of September.
The Edelweiss Club, which is hosting the event, will have root beer on hand for the kids in attendance and Germany’s Erdinger beer for the adults. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
One of the festival’s most popular events, the stein holding contest, takes place Friday and Saturday for men and women, with a special competition on Saturday for the kids. There will also be music and other entertainment throughout the festival.
Oktoberfest West Michigan will be held on Sept. 29 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sept. 30 from noon to 11 p.m. at John Ball Park. Entry is free, but there is a $5 wristband required to enter the beer tent.
A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Kids Food Basket, a West Michigan charity focused on feeding hungry kids.
The Edelweiss Club has hosted Oktoberfest West Michigan since 1982.
