Police seek help identifying shooter

    The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2 near Bridge Street and Seward Avenues in Northwest Grand Rapids.

    “We are in the very early stages of the investigation, but at this time this appears to be a targeted incident,” said Chief Eric Winstrom.  “We do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.”

    Shooting victim entered Bridge Street Market seeking help.

    Officers were in the area of Douglas Park when they heard the sound of gunfire. As they were searching the area, an employee of Bridge Street Market called to report that a shooting had occurred near the store and the victim had fled inside the store. GRFD also responded and began providing treatment before the victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. At last report, the victim is in critical but stable condition.

    The victim’s car was located on Bridge Street with numerous bullet holes and windows shot out.
