Today, on the 54th anniversary of Earth Day, Meijer is taking a proactive stance to inspire our community to cherish and preserve our planet. With a deep-rooted commitment to environmental stewardship, Meijer is proud to sponsor Earth Day activities at Blandford Nature Center, located at 1715 Hillburn Ave. NW, Grand Rapids.
“For nearly 90 years, we’ve remained committed to being good environmental stewards and focused on initiatives tied to nature conservation,” said Erik Petrovskis, Director of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability at Meijer. “Blandford offers so much opportunity for visitors of all ages to explore the outdoors, and we encourage the entire community to get out outside and enjoy what Blandford has to offer this Earth Day and every day.”
At Blandford Nature Center today, the trails and grounds are open from dawn to dusk, inviting guests to immerse themselves in 264 acres of forests, meadows, and wetlands. With 8 miles of trails, including 1 mile of ADA accessible trails, there’s ample opportunity for exploration. Visitors can also engage with the center’s outdoor playscapes, the Blandford farm and its animals, and the Wildlife Education Center featuring over 30 rehabilitated Wildlife Ambassadors.
This inclusive celebration welcomes guests of all abilities, as Blandford Nature Center provides accessibility equipment at no cost and offers activity-filled backpacks complete with field guides, binoculars, and storybooks to enhance outdoor exploration for children.
Blandford Nature Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to inviting the community to enjoy, explore, and learn in nature.
