A West Michigan community is kicking off a campaign to celebrate its businesses and residents with a holiday lights competition.

The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce said Wednesday, Dec. 1, it is launching the Allendale All IN campaign this week with an All Is Bright community holiday lights competition sponsored by Consumers Energy.

The competition invites local Allendale residents and businesses to put on their best light- and holiday-themed displays for the community, with entries due to the chamber by noon Friday, Dec. 3.

Addresses for participating residences and businesses will be available beginning Friday evening for public voting.

The All IN campaign is a communitywide effort to celebrate Allendale businesses and residents and the attributes people believe make Allendale a great place to live, work and play.

“Allendale is a growing community of families, long-time residents and college students. We have diverse experiences, backgrounds and perspectives all in one township,” said Summer Rietsma, Allendale Chamber executive director. “Allendale All IN recognizes that Allendale is greater than the sum of its parts, and by celebrating our community together, we can create a stronger future for our businesses and residents.”

In addition to the holiday lights competition, the chamber recently held coloring and essay contests for local students as well as an All IN family-friendly tailgate experience at a Grand Valley State University football home game against Davenport.

“From the banners waving high on M-45 to the signs in yards, we want all Allendale residents and visitors to see how we’re all in this together,” Rietsma said. “We’re looking forward to continuing the Allendale All IN Campaign into 2022 and finding even more ways to bring our incredible community members together to celebrate Allendale.”
