The Holland Farmers Market is the place for giving this season.

Individuals can donate nonperishable food items to the Thanks For Giving food drive every Wednesday and Saturday until Nov. 20 at the farmers market, at 150 W. Eighth St. in Holland.

The food drive benefits Community Action House’s newly launched Food Club, a membership-based grocery store that serves low-income families by providing access to healthy foods, along with membership perks and support at the Opportunity Hub.

“Community Action House shares in the Holland Farmers Market’s mission to ensure that healthy food is accessible to all, and they have been our trusted partners for many years,” said Holland Farmers Market Marketing Coordinator Kara de Alvare. “We are excited to be hosting this food drive to help them stock the shelves at the Food Club and to be able to thank our generous customers for their donations, too.”

Everyone who makes a donation to the Thanks For Giving food drive will receive an entry into the Thanks For Giving gift basket giveaway. The giveaway basket will include produce and specialty foods for the giveaway winner. The winner will be announced Nov. 22, and they can pick up their gift basket at the farmers market Nov. 24.

Those who are interested in entering the contest but have not donated a nonperishable food item can purchase Market Bucks gift certificates to donate to Community Action House. Farmers market staff will give the gift certificates to Community Action House to allow the organization to purchase local produce for its Food Club members.
