The annual Holland Parade of Lights, ushering in the arrival of Santa Claus, will be held in downtown Holland Tuesday, Nov. 29. To add to the festivities, the Holland Kertsmarkt, a (mostly) weekend Christmas Market located in the Eighth Street Marketplace, 150 W 8th Street through Dec. 10, will be open on Tuesday, 3-8 p.m.
The Kertsmarkt
For the past 25 years the European-style pop up market has offered a venue for local artisans to showcase various items for holiday shoppers. This year, 18 Michigan vendors have chosen to participate in the Kerstmarkt, offering a variety of hand-crafted gifts, greenery, holiday décor and baked goods on display and available for purchase. The Holiday Kerstmarkt also features live music performances, food trucks, dog sled demonstrations and more.
In addition to the Kertsmarkt, the Eighth Street Market is home to the Holland Farmers Market, which is open 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 10, and 17, with local farmers and vendors selling fresh produce, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, specialty foods and more.
Parade of Light
Santa Claus arrives in Downtown Holland during the annual Parade of Lights. He will be joined by more than 75 illuminated floats, trucks, antique cars, walkers and marching bands.
The parade begins at the corner of 8th Street and Columbia Avenue at 6:30 pm and will proceed west down 8th Street until it reaches the Holland Civic Center Place. Free public parking can be found in the parking lots on 7th and 9th Streets, in the 7th and 9th Street Parking Decks and at the Holland Civic Center Place.
