Founders Brewing Co. announced a new Michigan-exclusive release of Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.

The intense, 12.5% ABV Imperial Stout was aged in bourbon barrels, resulting in all the warm, roasty characteristics familiar to a stout with added notes of oak and vanilla from the barrel-aging.

“It’s no secret we love experimenting with barrel-aged beer,” said Dave Engbers, Founders president and co-founder. “Over the years, our fans have asked, even begged us to please put our classic Imperial Stout in a bourbon barrel, and we made it happen last year with a taproom Mothership Series release. It was such a hit, we decided to bring it back — this time just for our Michigan fans to enjoy.”

Founders Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout will be released exclusively to Michigan retailers in 750-milliliter bottles in early November. It will not be released in the brewery’s taproom locations.
