The city of Kentwood introduced a new cross-country run, the NN Mobile Solutions Halloween 5K, which takes place Oct. 17 at Covenant Park.
The course, at 3724 Shaffer Ave. SE, will include some elevation changes, uneven surfaces, grassy and paved areas. COVID-19 precautionary measures will be in place, including staggered start times between 9 a.m. and noon, required face coverings at packet pick-up and physical distancing.
Participants are encouraged to dress up or don a Halloween-themed mask.
“This Halloween 5K provides a great opportunity for runners of all levels to make the most of the crisp autumn air and enjoy peak fall colors,” said Spencer McKellar, race organizer. “To go with our Halloween theme, we encourage all participants to put on a costume and their favorite fall mask for the fun run.”
The 5K event will be a fundraiser for improvements at the park, which is the newest addition to Kentwood’s park system.
Participants can register at runsignup.com up until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday for $20. Afterward, the price will increase. Those who sign up before Friday will receive a T-shirt.
