The city of Holland is inviting community members to come enjoy its downtown offerings Saturday.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer officially declared the day Downtown Day for the state, a proclamation that recognizes the role downtown districts play in economic development and social life.

Downtown Holland will celebrate by giving away a $100 gift card to the downtown Holland business of the winner’s choice. To enter, participants will need to visit Downtown Holland’s Facebook page on Saturday and leave a comment on the giveaway post sharing what they love most about downtown Holland.

In addition, local residents are encouraged to visit businesses in the downtown area.

“In light of the difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic, our local shops and restaurants need support now more than ever if downtown Holland is going to remain a vibrant and thriving destination well into the future,” said Kara de Alvare, marketing coordinator for Downtown Holland.

Downtown Holland is home to more than 100 locally owned boutiques, shops and galleries, as well as breweries, cafés and restaurants. The city also features cultural attractions and an award-winning farmers market.
