Eventgoers will have the opportunity to learn how to surf and paddleboard at the third annual Great Lakes Surf Festival on Aug. 14 at Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon.

Attendees also can partake in yoga on the beach, and the event will feature music, food and a raffle.

In the event that there are no waves, the Great Lakes Surf Festival will be working with Tommy’s Boats of Grand Rapids to create artificial waves. Tommy’s Boats will be able to generate waist-high waves to simulate ocean waves.

“We are excited to see the Great Lakes Surf Festival grow and to have the support from our sponsors and from the surf and paddleboard industry,” said Joe Bidawid, co-founder of the event.

“Imagine a late summer day on an amazing beach, doing what you love and surrounded by so many people from all over the Great Lakes, who share the same passion. That is our goal.”
