Gilda’s LaughFest adds more events

More comedic events have been added to this year’s Gilda’s LaughFest lineup.

Actor and comedian Brent Morin will perform at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Gun Lake Casino, 123 129th Ave. in Wayland. He stars in the NBC show “Undateable” and Netflix comedy specials “Merry Happy Whatever,” “The Stand Ups” and “I’m Brent Morin.” He has made guest appearances on “Chelsea Lately,” “Conan,” “Comedy Central” and “Brooklyn 99,” and he has performed at The Comedy Store, The Improv and The Laugh Factory.

“Gun Lake Casino is ecstatic to host Brent Morin at 131 Sportsbar & Lounge,” said Carter Pavey, Gun Lake Casino assistant general manager. “Morin is a well-known act who will put on a tremendous show for our guests. We are excited to have another night full of laughs inside of 131 Sportsbar & Lounge as our partnership with Gilda’s Club Laughfest continues.”

Pop Scholars, a four-man comedic group from Grand Rapids, will return to perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Golden Age at Creston Brewery, 1504 Plainfield Ave. NE in Grand Rapids. The group has been doing improv comedy for over 10 years across the Midwest.

“The Dirty Show hosted by Adam Degi” will begin at 11 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Golden Age at Creston Brewery. The show will feature Michael Bussler, Jake Ford, Kaira Williams, Brianna Blackburn, Devarron Thomas and Ella Horwedel.

River City Improv, another comedy improv group, will perform at 7:33 p.m. Friday, March 18, at the Old Theatre, 315 W. Main St. in Lowell.

The Comedy Project will host four shows at its location, 540 Leonard St. NW, Suite B, in Grand Rapids. “The Cash Box! A Rock n Roll Improv Comedy Show” will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17; “Dissociation Station: Next Stop…Happy Town! Sketch Comedy Show” will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 18-19; “Battle Bots Improv Comedy Show” will be at 10 p.m. March 18; and “Key Of Comedy – Musical Improv Show” will be at 10 p.m., March 19.

LaughFest Trivia Night of Stars, an interactive trivia game, will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Golden Age at Creston Brewery. The game will feature a variety of questions and video clips surrounding pop culture and West Michigan-based questions.

Nearly 50 events for all ages have been scheduled for Gilda’s LaughFest from March 16–20. There will be free events such as Seriously Funny Adventure Challenge, Sunday Night Funnies, Kids Joke, Family Improv, You Have Two Minutes: Brian Kelly’s Favorite LaughFest Portraits, Laughter Yoga, Recovery Showcase, All Ya’ll Showcase and Drum it Out.
