Local hop growers are bringing in the harvest, and Founders’ brewhouse is looking more like a greenhouse, as brewers are working to turn thousands of pounds of fresh hops into the seasonal Harvest Ale.

Founders Brewing Co. is celebrating the hop harvest at its Harvest Party on Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to closing time at 2 a.m. The festivities will feature live music, special food offerings and a bountiful tap list.

The Harvest Party will feature several musical acts: headliner Mungion out of Chicago; Sam Williams; Wilder Maker; and the Patty PerShayla Band.

Founders is offering special seasonal fare like Robinette’s doughnuts, along with the special party lineups of Harvest Ale, Civilized Brut IPA, Mothership Series #9: Oktoberfest and many more.

Tickets are sold at the gate the day of the party at Founders’ Grand Rapids taproom.

General Admission tickets include entry, a class-one pour and a commemorative glass. The event is rain or shine and limited to ages 21 and older.

Founders’ Harvest Ale has been an annual mainstay since the early 2000s. Each fall, Founders receives thousands of pounds of wet hop cones within hours of them being picked by local hop growers.

Harvest Ale is an “aromatic and bright” IPA with fresh pine, melon and citrus notes and an ABV of 7.6%

The limited-release brew is available in the Detroit and Grand Rapids taprooms and will phase into all other markets by early October.
