Drivers navigating Grand Rapids traffic today may encounter delays due to a vehicle crash that downed a utility pole and power lines, causing widespread power outages across the area.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. May 14, the City of Grand Rapids issued a bulletin reporting the incident at the intersection of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Hall Street SW. The intersection is currently closed to traffic.

The resulting outages are affecting multiple traffic signals, including those along Fulton Street west of the Grand River. Several city parks and intersections throughout the West and Southwest sides are also experiencing disruptions.

City and utility crews are responding to the scene. Motorists are urged to use caution and treat intersections without functioning signals as four-way stops.

Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
