Fall is here, and, accordingly so is our october issue!
Gracing our front cover is Grand Rapids’ groundbreaking new poet laureate, Marcel Price (aka Fable The Poet). Price is not only the first person of color to be selected for this post, but he’s also the first under the age of 40 and the first without a college degree. In this month’s ‘Reading Room’ piece, he fills us in on his art (spoken word) that shines a light on mental health for GR’s youth and a plethora of other topics close to his heart.
We’ve also got a great feature on the abundance of entrepreneurs in Grand Rapids and how the resources and support systems in the city have made it all possible.
YAY SPORTS! The minor league sports scene in GR has really come alive, and with that comes some pretty big super fans. Jon Rzepecki has a great feature on these fans of the Grand Rapids Griffins, Grand Rapids Drive and West Michigan Whitecaps!
Nicole LaRae’s Liner Notes column has a look ahead at Founders Brewing Co.’s 20th Anniversary Party, being held on Oct. 14. Twenty years of Founders, now that’s something to celebrate, and don’t mind if we do!
Let’s EAT! We didn’t forget about you, foodies. In addition to the always popular dining coupon (CitySēn Lounge Grand Rapids), we’ve got a dining review of Rockwell Republic, a chef profile on James Bacon from Vitale’s Pizza of Ada, and a ton more!
We don’t want to spoil all of the fun— but we should mention that our October issue pairs exceptionally well with pumpkin spice 😉
Let us know what you think when you get your copy!
