In a state that is often divided by which college sports team to root for — mainly Michigan State Spartans or the Michigan Wolverines — it has come to a consensus for Super Bowl LV this Sunday.
Michigan will be cheering on its former Wolverine quarterback, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to geotagged Twitter data in the last week, tracking official fan hashtags in each state, for example, #ChiefsKingdom, #RunItBack, #GoBucs and #RaiseTheFlags.
Over 200,000 tweets were tracked.
Michiganders have joined 16 other states in the New England area, the southeast and the west in backing Brady.
The other 33 states will be rooting for the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs.
