Turning Pointe School of Dance has announced the return of a cherished Lakeshore Christmas tradition, its yearly presentation of “The Promise is Jesus.” This enchanting production, featuring scripture and celebrations surrounding the birth of Jesus, will showcase the talents of more than 50 dedicated dancers.

Under the artistic direction of the new creative director, Kaylin Bazick, the show promises to artfully weave the Christmas story together using scripture, music, classical ballet and contemporary dance. This uplifting show will be performed by the TPSD Ensemble and “Pre-Ensemble” dancers.

“To our Ensemble dancers, Turning Pointe is an influential component of their personal expression as artists. By training young dancers to perform at the highest levels, and preparing each dancer in body and spirit to glorify God, we are turning them not just into dancers but into future leaders in our community,” said Kaylin Bazick.

All performances will take place at the historic Knickerbocker Theater in Downtown Holland. The dates and times for the performances are as follows:

  • December 8 at 7 p.m.
  • December 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • December 15 at 7 p.m.
  • December 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“The birth of Jesus made God real and present in our world, and it meant God would always fulfill His promises to us, through all of time,” said executive director Debra Burr. “The Turning Pointe Ensemble brings the stories of God’s people to life through active praise and dance. With our new creative direction, the audience will find new takes on many of the familiar stories, told through scripture, which have become staples of The Promise.”
