Happy New Year! How do you plan to spend the first weekend of 2019? We’ve got a few suggestions below.

Bob Seger @ Van Andel Arena
(Saturday)

Bob Seger is parking his tour bus in Grand Rapids one final time. The musician kicked off his farewell tour from Grand Rapids in November 2018, and due to the sold out response, he added a second date in the city.

So head to Van Andel Arena on Jan. 5, to send Seger off right. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Find out more here.

First Fridays Gallery Hop
(Friday)

Every First Friday of the month the Heartside neighborhood transforms into an active, arts-focused destination. Set out on foot and explore the galleries this Friday evening. Be sure to stop in at the UICA to take part in its docent-led galleries tour. Tours last about 30 minutes, are free with gallery admission, and begin at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Find out more here.

Improv @ Wealthy Theatre
(Friday & Saturday)

Pop Scholars
Pop Scholars

Head to the Wealthy Theatre this weekend to catch two different improv shows. On Friday, Pop Scholars will have you in stitches with their hilarious antics, and on Saturday, River City Improv will make you double over with laughter.

Pop Scholars’ performance starts at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m., and River City Improv performs at 7:33 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Find out more here.
