The Grand Rapids Fire Department and Grand Rapids Police Department will face each other in a charitable hockey game.
The two departments will compete against each other at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Van Andel Arena at 130 W. Fulton St. in Grand Rapids.
The hockey game will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), an organization that supports people with neuromuscular diseases.
“Like any adult recreation team, we play for the love of the game,” said Michael Walker, firefighter and team captain for GRFD. “This charity game is an opportunity to do what we enjoy and benefit others, and for bragging rights.”
Tickets for the GRPD/GRFD charity game also are good for a seat to the 7 p.m. Grand Rapids Griffins game the same night.
Tickets and more information are available here.
