Four things to do this Thanksgiving weekend

It’s that time of the year again when we give thanks with those around us. So here is a list of four things happening in the Grand Rapids area to add to your Thanksgiving celebration:

A Night Before Thanksgiving Party hosted by The BOB
What better way to give thanks than by raising a glass this Thanksgiving Eve at The BOB in Grand Rapids? The biggest bar night of the year is back! Try their new addition to the tap, Peanut Butter Porter as you enjoy the variety of entertainment options. Eve nightclub will open up early at 9 p.m. for those ready to get the night started, and for your entertainment, you will be hosted by DJ Kane. Additionally, DJ Greg Knott will be accompanying those in HOME, and you can find DJ Matt B in Bobarino’s! The fun-packed evening kicks off at 4 p.m. and continues until 1 a.m. this Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, and is located at 20 Monroe Ave, NW.

Christmas lights and Holiday joy? Count me in! The biggest animated drive-through light show in West Michigan is returning for “Another Year of Magic!” For its 26th year, this event is enjoyable for all ages and a favorite for locals. Experience over a million lights, dynamic displays, lit tunnels, and nearly two miles of holiday cheer that begins LMCU Ballpark, 4500 W River Dr NE, Comstock Park.

Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Eastown
After Thanksgiving dinner, bundle up and head to Eastown for a free family fun event for all ages. The annual tree lighting takes place this Thursday, Nov. 24, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Located in Gaslight Village at the Regatta Plaza, 2181 Wealthy St, SE. There will be a variety of special performances and special appearances by Mayor Favale, Santa Claus, and Mrs. Claus. Photos with the special guests will be available after the tree lighting. Additionally, a scheduled list of events is posted on the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony website.

Santa’s Reindeer at Frederik Meijer Gardens
Rudolph and his friends will be visiting Michigan’s Farm Garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens on select Saturdays this holiday season. This family fun event is included with the price of admission at Frederik Meijer Gardens and will occur on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. Additionally, there is so much to explore at the gardens and sculpture park. In fact, while you’re there, check out the University of Michigan Health-West: Christmas & Holiday Traditions is a hallmark Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park exhibition. This annual tradition is one you won’t want to miss!
