Circle Theatre is offering virtual auditions for select 2021 season productions, including “The Gin Game,” “Always… Patsy Cline” and “Cabaret.”

Virtual auditions for “The Gin Game” and “Always… Patsy Cline” are open until Sunday, and virtual auditions for “Cabaret” are open until March 28. The theatre will be producing two Circle On The Lawn productions.

“The Gin Game” is about Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey, who met on the porch of their nursing home and became friends. Martin was teaching Dorsey how to play gin rummy. As they played, they shared stories about the lives they lived in the outside world, but when Dorsey kept on winning every hand, Martin became increasingly frustrated, until their gin games and conversations became a battleground.

The musical “Always… Patsy Cline” plays tribute to the country singer who died at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a Houston fan, Louise Seger, which continued until her death. The musical will feature 27 songs, including “Cline’s Crazy,” “I Fall To Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight.”

The production of “Cabaret” will be inside Circle Theatre, which will be the first time the theatre is open after a year. Cabaret will intentionally cast performers of color in the roles of Master of Ceremonies, Sally Bowles, Clifford Bradshaw and others.

The musical, set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, focuses on the nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolve around American writer Bradshaw and his relationship with cabaret performer Bowles.
