Alicia Keys’ Tony Award-winning musical Hell’s Kitchen is coming to Grand Rapids Sept. 15-20, and students and educators have a chance to see every performance for $30 through Broadway Grand Rapids’ Student/Educator Rush program.
The musical, which will run at DeVos Performance Hall, takes audiences to the Manhattan neighborhood that gives the show its name. At the center of the story is Ali, a 17-year-old trying to figure out who she is, where she belongs and what kind of life she wants.
As Ali grows up, she falls in love with music and begins finding her place in the world around her. Her story is shaped by a complicated family, the neighborhood she calls home and a musical mentor who opens her eyes to new possibilities.
Set to the music of Alicia Keys, Hell’s Kitchen is a coming-of-age story rooted in the energy of New York and Keys’ personal musical catalog.
The production is directed by five-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, whose credits include Rent, Dear Evan Hansen and The Notebook. Five-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown choreographs the production, with Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz writing the book.
Students and educators can purchase $30 Student/Educator Rush tickets in person one hour before each performance at the DeVos Performance Hall Box Office, 303 Monroe Ave. NW. A valid school ID is required, and the limit is two tickets per person. Tickets are subject to availability.
Hell’s Kitchen is part of Broadway Grand Rapids’ Broadway series, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank. Broadway Grand Rapids has partnered with Broadway Across America since 2019 to bring new and nationally touring Broadway productions to Grand Rapids.
