A slice of 16th century Italy has come to life at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

The museum opened “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition,” this past weekend, showcasing the classic Renaissance piece with licensed photography.

The exhibit will run during regular museum hours 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday through Sept. 11.

“Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition” is produced by Special Entertainment Events (SEE), a Los Angeles-based exhibition production company that specializes in global touring exhibitions. The company in the past has toured Star Wars, Michael Jackson, Titanic and King Tut exhibits.

For this exhibit, SEE acquired the rights to fresco reproductions of Michelangelo’s original paintings from Bridgeman Images. The licensed, high-definition photos replicate the feel of the original work, allowing visitors to experience all 34 frescos of the classic piece in life-size imagery.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to the exhibition, which is estimated to take 60 to 90 minutes to tour in its entirety.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $9 for children and can be purchased here.
