Youth Softball team headed to World Series

An area softball team that is undefeated is looking for support as it heads to the Junior League Softball World Series.

“We are looking for support from our community to make this journey possible,” said Veenstra. “Your support will play a crucial role in our quest to bring home another championship.”

After an amazing undefeated streak in the district, state, and regional tournaments, the Hudsonville/Georgetown Little League Junior Softball team members have their sights set on defending their title as Junior League Softball World Series Champions in Kirkland Washington, July 30-Aug. 5, 2023.

The team’s latest triumph was an impressive 4-0 record in the regional tournament in Pendleton, Indiana, where they secured a resounding 7-0 victory against Indiana in the championship game, showcasing their undeniable talent and determination.

“We are incredibly proud of our team’s undefeated performance throughout the district, state, and regional tournaments,” said Shawn Veenstra, head coach of the team. “Their hard work and dedication have earned us a spot in the Junior League Softball World Series, and we can’t wait to make our community proud once again.”

The players are excited to represent their community and continue their legacy of excellence and the families are looking for community support to help offset some of the expenses of airfare, lodging, meals, and other expenditures so they can cheer them on.
