Lakeside living made simple with backporch

Our family’s property in the country is our favorite place in the world. We work the land, hunt, explore, fish, stargaze, manage wildlife, host friends and gather together. But all of that is easier said than done.

Owning any lakefront or recreational property is a tremendous blessing, but it also can feel like tremendous work. Whether it’s ensuring the boat has enough fuel before a long weekend or simply making sure the fridge is stocked, coordination doesn’t always feel easy. It takes a lot of work and communication among family, friends and guests to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your leisure.

    Enter backporch app

We created this app to be a centralized place for your family, friends and guests to co-host property. The tools in this app were developed with years of personal experience and feedback from recreational property owners, but it’s more than just a set of tools. Backporch is meant to truly enhance the joy of owning a shared place by helping to minimize miscommunication, maximize your time at the property and make collaboration on big or small projects easy.

We know how great it feels to own a special piece of the world. It feels even better when things are in place: groceries, gear, expectations, etc. When the lists feel never ending, it’s time to put them all in one place.

    Bringing families together

We want to help families mend fences (literally and figuratively) and empower children and grandchildren with the knowledge and involvement to keep your property in the family for generations. Why wait until a child is grown to teach them about the general upkeeps of their treasured home?

With tools like project management, you can teach your child watering schedules for landscaping, or how to replace bait and tackles for the next fishing outing. When children are more involved, they develop a larger appreciation for their purpose in the household and can continue that passion for generations to come.

    Less back and forth

When there are certain expectations around small details, things can get easily left behind. While the mustard situation is humorous, missing essential items like paper towels can cause frustration, especially if the nearest convenience store is closed.

With features like the project lists, users are able to not only create grocery lists but collaborate on items needed. This fosters more planning among guests who can make meals together or share their items. Avoid wasting time running back and forth to the store, and focus on what matters most — making memories with your loved ones.

    Don’t sweat the small things

Hosting your property doesn’t have to feel like a chore, especially if you’re not there to oversee and tend to your guests. Keeping all of the information pertaining to security systems, local emergency contacts, nearby pharmacies, etc. puts a guest at ease. Everyone can relax knowing that they have all the necessary resources at hand to make them feel safe and aid in case of emergency.

    Build lasting memories

Make backporch your digital guestbook for those staying in your home, so they can get the most out of their vacation. Mark all of the available activities in the property info tab and share photos of your favorite outdoor adventures, outstanding architecture and delicious restaurants. If you’re not there to tell the stories yourself, you can personalize your suggestions with your favorite memories and local spots.

We hope this app will be as much of a game changer for you as it has been for us. Our mission is to support you in stewarding your beautiful property, so you can minimize frustration and upkeep and get back to why you bought your property in the first place. Whether you’re hitting the trails, snow peaks, streams, dunes, or lakes, allow backporch app to help you make the most of it. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see how our community uses backporch and join the conversation.
