Baxter Community Center is looking for donations and sponsors to support its holiday basket drive and general services.

Each year, Baxter Community Center provides families in need with a box of food to provide a Thanksgiving dinner to southeast Grand Rapids community members who are unable to afford it. The center is currently seeking help from those who are able to make donations or provide sponsorships to ensure its neighbors have a “cheerful Thanksgiving meal this year.”

Donations needed include boxed potatoes, dried pasta, bags of rice, canned vegetables, bags of dinner rolls or bread, jars of gravy and boxes of stuffing mix. Cash donations also are accepted, as a donation of $100 gives the center the ability to provide a nutritious, balanced food package that will help feed an average family for one week.

Event sponsors, donors and volunteers also are needed to help ensure the success of the holiday baskets and to ensure there is additional funding and support for year-round programs.

Families in need of holiday baskets can pick up their boxes at the Baxter Community Center between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 22-23.

Those who wish to get involved in supporting the efforts of Baxter Community Center can visit wearebaxter.org.
